Scrapbook Saturday

Today is going to me the start of a regular post devoted to scrapbooking. Originally I planned on doing 'Scrapbook Sunday' but there are a few card challenges I like to try to enter that are due Sundays, and I prefer to only do one blog post a day. I know I haven't posted a card in a while; right now I am so close to having my stamps reorganized, but I am not quite there yet. Will definitely have them done by next week. A wonderful friend is coming over for the day on Monday to help me price garage sale stuff. Once that's done and out of the way I'll feel much more free to create.

I had hoped today I might post once more during the week, but alas, it didn't happen. The last 3 mornings I've been taking part in a career development/planning workshop called Personality Dimensions. I would get home in the afternoon and just want to relax. I'm pretty well balanced among my top 3 colours, and I have very little of my fourth colour. Thursday I met with my career counsellor to debrief what I'd learned and such. There a couple other job search related courses I'm going to take in September. Friday is my scrapbooking day in Parksville with a friend of mine. She's the person who is coming to help me Monday.

So all that is to say, here are more layouts from the gift alum I made. All the pages are about the two people in our group who have entered the Grandma's Club. This page uses the same Stampin Up paper as I used in the carnival page from yesterday. I just used all the b sides, rather than the more theme-oriented side. I like the look of layering decent sized scraps

Papers: Stampin Up

These Christmas pages feature some Studio Calico paper I bought for a swap and then forgot to use. Yes, I do that. Went ahead and got the cards made using something completely different. I have lots of the paper still left. It may yet be used in some swap cards. I tried to do the same design with the house/tee and red sweater paper on both sides, but it actually didn't look right. The square was the wrong size for the photos on the right and it just seemed 'off' to have one go outside the frame.

This little guy is the grandson of one of our group members. His daddy, top left, was in the grade 7 class where I did my practicum years ago. It's so amazing to see the kids I've worked with, directly and indirectly, all grown up.

Papers: Elle Studio (left); Jillibean Soup (right)

This last page today is a simple Halloween layout. Given the huge number of Halloween embellishments I own, this page feels a wee bit naked to me, given there is nary a sticker in sight. But my rule with a gift album is all (or at least most) or none. And as I didn't have the time to putz through my stash and see what I had for the other pages, I went with none.

Papers: American Crafts

My original plan, as I may have mentioned, was to only use Jillibean papers for this album. In the end, I wasn't comfortable with that and I ended up adding papers from other companies that I believe echo the feel of the Jillibean papers. I wouldn't, for example, use Jillibean and Bella Blvd together in an album that I wanted to feel unified. Bella is awesome. I love it; don't get me wrong. It just strikes a different mood to me than the other papers I chose.

Enjoy your weekend!

Seems that you did a great job on these layouts. I've never thought about how I mix different papers in an album. Miss hearing from you on our I Dream of Paper Blog thread. Hope you'll have time to pop in once in awhile. ;)

Wonderful layouts! Maybe if I had my paper organized differently I would be able to mix and match more often.
