One of the ways I love to serve the congregation at our church is to make cards. The majority of the ones I make are for children and leaders in our Sunday School programs. I do birthday cards for the participants and, at minimum, Christmas cards for the leaders. I would love to be on the ball enough to do Easter, year end, and Thanksgiving cards for the leaders as well, but I am SO not there yet.
I am learning that the best thing to do when making a large number of cards is to pick 3-4 sets and make multiples. I've also come to accept that when I have a large number to do, clean and simple, with as little frou frou as possible, is the way to go. I can do ribbon and glitter and such when I am making less than 6 cards. I do colour, but sometimes I do very quick shading, using my regular pencil crayons on no particular technique. The cards below use that coloring technique.

The wonderful thing is there are so many great ideas out there that you can use the same stamp in multiple ways. Sets I used include: Fun and Fast Notes, All God's Children, Christmas Cardinal, Silent Night, Sidekick Sayings. Ok, that's technically 5, but the Silent Night images were already stamped from before so I didn't want them to go to waste.
I love the Christmas Cardinal set; I have no idea why SU! tried to redo this one with the A Cardinal Christmas set; they could've just kept or brought back the original. It's like new versus old Coke... once you have perfection, do NOT mess with it. I don't care for the branch on the second set, especially compared to the original set.
All I can think of is that some people didn't like the flower images in the set... though I can't imagine why, since they are gorgeous.
Today's cards show how I used the bird image; Tuesday I'll post a few using the Christmas Rose stamp from the same set. I did make a few of my cards using the flowers, and I will post those tomorrow.
