I actually rarely watch the Oscars. I just don't have the attention span for such a long telecast. I don't think I've even seen most of the nominated films and performances this year. The nice thing is that later I'll have time to catch up on a bunch of the shows I have sitting on my DVR waiting for me to watch them. The good thing is, spoilers don't bother me at all so I don't have to stress out.
I had a lovely weekend in Vancouver; I had meetings to attend. A friend was going to go over with me and we were going to go shopping before my first meeting Friday at 7pm, but something came up and she couldn't get away. It was a disappointment, and yet I'm glad I was able to make the best of it.... got a chance to hang out with more School Trustees from other districts. I find that the informal sharing that happens at dinner or when we go for a beer somewhere is almost more valuable than the work we're actually there to do. Well, maybe not more, but at least equal.
Today I have a card for the latest challenge at Can You Case It? I have a Thank You card for our Board's executive assistant. She is absolutely fantastic. She started in January following the retirement of someone who had been in the position for a number of years. She's got big shoes to fill and she is doing so with aplomb.
Here's the card:
This card is one I started a while ago and never finished. I wasn't in love with the colour combo and I'm still not fold of it. The Pistachio Pudding colour is growing me me but I still don't care for Crisp Cantaloupe. I do love the Smoky Slate, though. I was leery about how the tone on tone background stamping would look, and in the end, that may be my favourite part of the card. I used Versamark for the block pattern. I inked the doily with Crisp Cantaloupe ink and cut it in half for a different look. A part of me wants to add a bit more bling... one more pearl where the two are, then one just below each arrow, in the space between the arrow & banner.
What do you think?
